Junior Breeding Sheep

The Junior Breeding Sheep Show will be held at the Livestock Arena.

  • All sheep should be on the grounds by 2:00 p.m. Registration papers and health papers will be
    checked at this time.
  • Only junior exhibitors will be allowed to enter and show. There will be a breeding animal showmanship. Only exhibitors who are entered in the breeding show are eligible to participate.

  • The show is open to registered ewes and rams.
  • Ewes shown in Market Classes at the Dyer County Fair are not eligible for Breeding Classes.
  • Animals in Lamb Classes must have lamb teeth.
  • There will be a division for any breed in which a Dyer County Junior is eligible to participate. Other breed divisions will be made for any breeds with at least 3 exhibitors and 10 head of sheep. Any breeds which do not have 3 exhibitors and 10 head will show in either AOB Meat or AOB Wool.

Class 1: Pee Wee Showmanship (Ages: Third Grade & Under)
Class 2: Junior Showmanship
Class 3: Junior High Showmanship
Class 4: Senior Showmanship
Class 5: Senior Yearling Ram (Born September 1 to February 15, last year)
Class 6: Junior Yearling Ram (Born February 16 to August 31, last year)
Class 7: Senior Ram Lamb (Born September 1 to December 31, last year)
Class 8: Early Junior Ram Lamb (Born January 1 to February 15, this year)
Class 9: Late Junior Ram Lamb (Born February 16 to April 30, this year)
Class 10: Pair of Ram Lambs (Classes 5,6, and 7)
Class 11: Champion Ram, Reserve Champion Ram
Class 12: Senior Yearling Ewes (Born September 1, two yeas go to February 15 last year)
Class 13: Junior Yearling Class (Born February 16 last year to August 31, last year)
Class 14: Pair of Yearling Ewes
Class 15: Senior Ewe Lambs (Born September 1 to December 31, last year)
Class 16: Early Junior Ewe Lambs (Born January 1 to January 31, this year)
Class 17: Intermediate Junior Ewe Lambs (Born February 1 to February 28 this year)
Class 18: Late Junior Ewe Lambs (Born March 1 to April 30, this year)
Class 19: Fair of Ewe Lambs
Class 20: Champion Ewe, Reserve Champion Ewe
Class 21: Pen of Four (1 ram - 3 ewes)
Class 22: Tennessee Bred by exhibitor One entry per exhibitor per breed. For ewes only. Champion - Plaque.
Class 23: Herdsman Award - (1st - $15, 2nd - $12)
Class 24: Supreme Champion Ewe
Class 25: Supreme Champion Ram

An exception to the above classifications of sheep may be made when an exhibitor
wishes to enter a younger animal in the next older age classification. In no case
will an older animal be entered in a younger age classification than its birthday
